Jason Fleming is an academic clinician, working as a Consultant ENT/Head and Neck Surgeon and Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool. His clinical practice is based at Aintree Hospital, which includes a tertiary head and neck cancer service for the patients of St. Helens, Knowsley, Whiston and Warrington. His clinical practice includes all head and neck/thyroid surgery, with a particular interest in trans-oral surgery (robotic/laser), and salvage surgery for recurrent cancer.
Having graduated from higher surgical training in London and the South-East, including specialist placements at St. George’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, and a research secondment to defend a PhD in cancer sciences, he went on to complete an advanced head and neck surgical oncology Fellowship at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital. He then became the first UK trainee to be appointed to the prestigious Ablative and Reconstructive Head and Neck Fellowship at University of Alabama (UAB, Birmingham, AL), where he received dedicated training in trans-oral robotic surgery at one of the early pioneering US centres for the technique.
As a surgeon scientist, Mr Fleming plays an active role in the research and teaching activity of the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre and University of Liverpool, and has been awarded over £2.5 million in research grants. He regularly presents internationally on his clinical and research interests, is widely published in high impact specialty journals and has authored a number of textbook chapters. He is the Fellowship Director for the Shaun Jackson Head and Neck / Thyroid Fellowship.

Mr Lancaster was trained in Liverpool as both an under and post graduate since 1988.
He took up a consultant post at Aintree, joining the head & neck department in 2006. His current practice solely focuses on head & neck cancer; both the investigation of and treatment.
His clinical interests include the applications of trans-oral laser surgery of upper aero-digestive tract tumours and fistula reduction post laryngectomy.
Managerially he has a joint role with the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance, working towards the creation of regional rapid diagnostic clinics for the early detection of head & neck cancer.

My subspecialist l interest within oral and maxillofacial surgery include temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, I am one of a small number of surgeons in the UK performing total prosthetic temporomandibular joint surgery. I also perform arthroscopy and open TMJ surgery and we have set up a Royal College of Surgeons Accredited TMJ surgery fellowship for senior trainees at Aintree.
I also perform orthognathic surgery and have helped introduce virtual surgical planning and patient specific implants at Aintree .
I am an examiner intercollegiate exit fellowship in oral and maxillofacial surgery and review scientific articles for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
I am an honorary clinical lecturer at Liverpool University and am an Invited member of the European Society for TMJ Surgery.
Outside of work I enjoy being bad at archery and walking my dogs.

Mr Matthew Rowland Is an Endocrine & Breast surgeon specialising in Thyroid and Parathyroid surgery. He has trained in Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and in Liverpool with fellowship based in Exeter. He offers surgery for primary and genetically driven hyperparathyroidism; Thyroid conditions diagnosis & surgery including goitre, retrosternal goitre and autoimmune thyrotoxicosis surgery. He is a member of the British Association of Endocrine & Thyroid Surgeons, submitting operative outcome data to the national database

Mr Houghton is an Endocrine & General Surgeon specialising in Thyroid, Parathyroid and Adrenal Surgery. Qualifying from Manchester Medical School in 2012, he then completed Post-Graduate training on the Greater Manchester Rotations before his fellowship in Liverpool prior to becoming a Consultant. He runs clinics and theatre lists at both the Aintree and Royal sites, providing care for those with thyroid nodules / goitre, Graves' Disease, Primary and genetic Hyperparathyroidism and Adrenal nodules (including minimally invasive / "Key hole" surgery, Phaeochromocytoma, Conn's Syndrome, and Cancers). He also provides Emergency General Surgery on the Aintree rota.
As an Honorary Consultant at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Mr Houghton has a sub-specialist interest in Paediatric Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery, performing operations at either hospital (depending on age). He enjoys Medical Education with roles at the University and Royal College of Surgeons, as well as within the Cheshire & Merseyside Training Programme. His professional memberships include providing outcome data to the BAETS National Audit.
