LHNC Oral Cancer Summit - 4th March 2025 at Exhibition Centre, Liverpool
04-03-2025
Recent data shows our regional incidence and mortality from oral cancer is amongst the worst in England, and is alarmingly, increasing. Inequalities due to deprivation are wide and have also increased over the last decade. This regional summit brought together key stakeholders from Cheshire and Merseyside working together to address contributory factors across the whole system; including health, social care, and voluntary sector organisations and patient groups.
Presentation of the key issues was followed by small group facilitated discussions, with the aim of developing a position statement and overarching strategy that can be used to guide action locally. We will commit to now publishing a strategy informed by the workshop, and with all appropriate input, later in 2025. The summit was a face-to-face meeting, hosted at the ACC Arena, with an opportunity for lunch and networking.
This was a legacy project of the International Academy of Oral Oncology (IAAO) Congress to be held in Liverpool in 2025. IAOO2025 Liverpool will be the first international head and neck oncology conference ever held in the UK and provides an opportunity to frame local concerns with international expertise later in the year.
